You Are More.
You are more…
…than your Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Twitter accounts or whatever. You are NOT defined by your posts, likes, follows, or how little or how much you’re online. You’re human. Which means: you have a ridiculous amount of dignity and value. You just do. Most importantly, you’re loved.
If God is love then you’re loved.
And love redefines our relationship with everything.
Jesus washed his disciples stinky-gross-nasty feet not because they were clean, but because they were dirty (John 13). Social media can often make us feel dirty or stuck in a pit of negativity. Then God comes us along with a soapy love bucket of goodness. Remembering who you are is a spiritual exercise that can clean us up and pull us out of the pit.
But how does this actually work??
Here’s 1 idea:
1. Step back every once in awhile & remember there’s a human person behind all those posts. There could be pain, loneliness or exhaustion under the surface OR you/they might have a major blind spot. Jesus gave priority to our value and worth, so stepping back to see someone else’s value is a spiritual game changer.
You are SO.MUCH.MORE than the online version of yourself.
Does your soul need this reminder? How about a social media sabbatical?
